Leadership for Innovation:
The Runway Show

DEDICATED TO UNLIKELY LEADER

"Leadership for Innovation: The Runway Show" was an invitation to step into a world where the concept of leadership is reimagined through the lens of fashion, art, and storytelling.

The runway wasn't just a physical space - it was an immersive experience that brought to life the complexities of leading innovative, progressive, and avant-garde teams. Using the concept of a fashion show, we communicated our message in a way that was tangible, visual, and emotionally evocative.

AUGUST 16th 2022 IMPACT HUB BELGRADE

Through the story of Sapfo - a misfit, visionary, and avant-garde leader inspired by real impact makers - we explored six crucial aspects of leadership that are often overlooked in conventional leadership concepts. From the problem with oversimplification to the value of neuroatypical individuals, we highlighted the nuances of leading innovation and provided a new perspective on what it takes to lead meaningful innovation. Our audience commented on how the show articulated thoughts they had been grappling with for years. "Finally someone who articulated what has been going through my mind for years, but I could never quite catch it." "This was way better than I could imagine it during the organization phase, I am blown away by the emotions that each act put me through." Act five, which focused on the value of neuroatypical individuals, struck a particular chord with one attendee who said: "It was so disturbing and at the same time so precisely what I experience as a leader." And the excerpts from Branka Copic's book - a tribute to our belated friend and polymath leader - had attendees on the edge of their seats: "It caused goosebumps, I cannot believe how everything fits and makes so much sense." The event was a testament to the power of collaboration, with over 25 people actively involved in its execution. Every detail, from the venue to the models to the choreography, was carefully imagined and intentional. And the result was a truly original work that was only possible through co-creation. As an attendee put it, "I wanted it to last longer, there is so much depth, I needed more time to let it sink." And that's exactly what we hope to achieve with our brand - to challenge conventional thinking and provide a new perspective on what it means to be a leader in the world we live in.

ACT 1: Lifting the Mediocrity Veil

ACT 1: Lifting the Mediocrity Veil

Sapfo's journey began with Act 1: Lifting the Mediocrity Veil. The first act aimed to highlight the problems with oversimplification in leadership training, which has led to a culture of mediocrity. The audience was introduced to Sapfo, our protagonist, who symbolizes the visionary and avant-garde leaders who are often misunderstood in conventional leadership training. Through carefully choreographed movements, powerful artistic expressions, and a voiceover, we showed how the industry's narrow definition of leadership has led to a lack of diversity and innovation. In Act 1, we introduced the medium of fashion as critical in communicating our message - a mask symbolizing the mediocrity veil that needs to be lifted. Throughout the show, we used white eyebrows for makeup, a nod to the unconventional and daring approach that is needed in modern leadership. The dystopian, unsettling music was carefully selected to create an immersive experience for the audience, emphasizing the importance of storytelling in leadership. Overall, Act 1 set the stage for Sapfo's journey and highlighted the importance of breaking free from conventional thinking and embracing the unconventional in leadership. It was a powerful reminder that true innovation requires a willingness to challenge the status quo and step outside of our comfort zones. . . . In collaboration with the visionary and avant-garde designer Danijela Lela Jonovic @katrielaccessories6379 this event showcased the power of avant-garde leadership and how it can shape the future. We hope that The Runway Show was an experience that proved that innovative leadership is not just a concept, but a reality to aspire to. ACT 2: Cutting Through the Noise

ACT 2: Cutting Through the Noise

In Act 2: Cutting Through the Noise Sapfo's journey continues, and the spotlight turns to the importance of feedback. But feedback is a tricky thing. It's like a poisonous battle, a double-edged sword that can be both medicine and poison. For avant-garde leaders like Sapfo, curating feedback is critical. One wrong piece of feedback can turn her vision from great to merely good or better. In this act, the audience was treated to a display of choreography and truly embodied the complexity and importance of feedback in a leader's journey. The stars brought to life the struggle that Sapfo faced in navigating the noise and choosing the right feedback to help her achieve her vision. From the poisonous battle to the intentionality in music and narrative via voiceover, every detail was meticulously planned to create an immersive and thought-provoking experience for the audience. By the end of Act 2, many in the audience could relate to the power of feedback that is rarely spoken about and the need for avant-garde leaders to carefully curate it to achieve greatness. . . . In collaboration with the visionary and avant-garde designer Danijela Lela Jonovic @katrielaccessories6379 this event showcased the power of avant-garde leadership and how it can shape the future. ACT 3: The Ugly Truth

In Act 3: The Ugly Truth, Sapfo delves into the game of pretend that often plagues professional environments. Sapfo told the story we all know too well with her face contorted into a grimace, symbolizing the emotional, mental, and physical pain that so many hide behind a veneer of professionalism. Sapfo's message was clear: the culture of pretending has to stop. The audience watched in rapt attention as the models slowly peeled away their layers, revealing the ugly truth underneath. The pain, the anxiety, the depression – it was all there, laid bare for everyone to see. Gasps and murmurs rippled through the audience as if Sapfo had finally articulated what had been going through their minds for years. "Finally, someone who understands." Sapfo's Act 3 was a wake-up call for anyone who has ever felt like they had to hide their pain behind a facade of professionalism. She showed that the only way to break the cycle of pretence is to acknowledge and confront the truth. . . . In collaboration with the visionary and avant-garde designer Danijela Lela Jonovic @katrielaccessories6379 this event showcased the power of avant-garde leadership and how it can shape the future. Sapfo invites the audience to consider how the space of virtual can be a source of innovation and creativity, but only if leaders are willing to embrace its unique demands and opportunities. The act emphasizes the importance of authenticity and empathy in virtual communication, and how leaders who can cultivate these qualities can build strong, engaged teams in any environment. ACT 5: Dramatically Different

Act 5: Dramatically Different is a poignant reminder that diversity and inclusivity are not just buzzwords, but the cornerstone of innovation and creativity in modern leadership. The act explores the idea of creating a space where different minds can collaborate and where neuroatypical individuals can thrive. The act is inspired by the recent trend of companies recognizing and valuing dyslexic thinking as a valuable skill. It highlights how a diversity of thought and perspective can create space for innovation, disruption, and transformation in the workplace. Through immersive art installations and stunning visual effects, the audience is taken on a journey to explore the kaleidoscopic minds of individuals who experience the world differently than the majority. The act challenges the audience to embrace diversity and to create space for those who are different from them. The act concludes with a call to action for leaders to embrace diversity and inclusivity as key strategies for driving innovation and growth in their organizations. . . . ACT 6: Leadership for Innovation

ACT 6: Leadership for Innovation - Breaking Free Avant-garde leaders are often dismissed as delusional dreamers, challenged to explain and justify their unconventional ideas in a world that demands rationality and proof. But Sapfo's message is clear: innovation requires breaking free from the need to be rationally acceptable to everyone. In Act 6, the audience is taken on a journey of exploration into the world of avant-garde leadership, where possibilities are created by challenging the status quo and pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Sapfo challenges the audience to let go of the need for rational explanations and to embrace the power of the invisible in creating innovative solutions. By highlighting the importance of being able to see beyond what is currently visible, Sapfo inspires the audience to think differently and embrace the creative potential of their own minds. She shows that the most successful leaders are those who are unafraid to take risks, challenge the norm, and believe in their vision. Through this final act, Sapfo empowers her audience to take the leap and break free from the constraints of what is known, embrace the cryptic nature of their dreams and visions, and create new possibilities that will shape the future. . . . Leadership for Innovation
Is a Different Game

Leadership for Innovation: The Runway Show event was also a testament to the power of genuine narrative in modern leadership. In today's ever evolving business landscape, the ability of a leader to produce and communicate a compelling narrative relevant to their organization's innovation trajectory is essential. This is why the event was designed to be an immersive experience that not only entertained but also educated and inspired the audience. The runway and fashion concept were inspired by the idea that the line of the runway is a statement, and it was a tangible and visible space to visually communicate complex ideas. In the same way, the event was designed to showcase how innovative leaders can use narrative and storytelling to communicate complex ideas and inspire their teams. The art pieces created by Danijela Jonovic, a talented jewelry designer were carefully conceptualized to reflect the six important aspects of leadership for innovation, and the models' choreography and artistic expressions were designed to bring those ideas to life. The white eyebrows for makeup were chosen to convey a sense of otherworldliness, reflecting the unconventional and avant-garde nature of innovative leaders. Moreover, the music and voiceover played a crucial role in creating an immersive atmosphere that drew the audience in and engaged them emotionally. The event was a focused and intentional collaboration between a diverse team of professionals, who worked together to create an experience that was not only entertaining but also educational and inspiring.
